Taskelo vs Todoist: an honest comparison from the Taskelo side

August 25, 2026 · 3 min read

The short version, stated as fairly as I can manage while being the person who built Taskelo: Todoist is the better task manager; Taskelo is the better assistant. Todoist wins on mobile apps, integrations, offline support, teams, maturity, and price. Taskelo wins if the reason you're shopping is AI: its assistant has your entire workspace (tasks, notes, goals, calendar) as context, while Todoist's AI performs actions on one task at a time. Pick Todoist to manage many tasks well. Pick Taskelo to have something that helps you decide what to do with them.

Everything below is the long version. Prices verified August 2026.

Where Todoist wins

No hedging here. Todoist's native mobile apps are excellent and Taskelo on a phone is a web page. Todoist works offline; Taskelo doesn't. Todoist connects to essentially everything via a decade of integrations; Taskelo connects to Google Calendar. Todoist handles shared projects and teams; Taskelo is strictly for one person. Its filter-and-label system is deep enough to run a complex life on, and at $5/month Pro simply costs less than Taskelo's $8. If several of those matter to you, the comparison is over and Todoist is your app.

Where Taskelo wins

One design decision: the AI came first, and the app is built around it. Elo receives your todos (and their age), your notes, your goals and milestone progress, and your calendar with every message. So "plan my day" produces a real timeboxed plan, "what am I avoiding" gets a specific answer, and every morning a brief flags today's priorities and calendar conflicts unprompted. Todoist's Assist features are useful, but they're commands you run on a task, not a colleague who has read your week. The deeper argument is in the full Todoist post.

Taskelo's free tier is also, oddly, the more generous one: everything except the assistant, versus Todoist's five-project cap.

Who should pick which

Pick Todoist if you live on your phone, need offline, share projects with anyone, or run heavy integrations. Pick Taskelo if you work solo at a computer and the thing you're actually shopping for is an AI that knows your work. And the test is cheap: Todoist's free tier and Taskelo's 14-day cardless trial (taskelo.com) can run the same week, side by side. Full pricing detail at taskelo.com/pricing.
