A Motion alternative for people who want the AI without the $19–49 a month

August 25, 2026 · 2 min read

People search for a Motion alternative for two different reasons, and they need different answers. Some love the auto-scheduling and hate the price; if that's you, Reclaim is the name to know, since auto-scheduling is its whole product. Others discovered they don't actually want an algorithm rearranging their calendar at all, they want help deciding, and the price made the decision easy. Taskelo is built for the second group.

The price, first, since it's why you're here

As of August 2026, Motion's individual Pro AI plan is $19 per month billed annually, or $29 month-to-month, with AI features metered by a credit system. The Business AI tier runs $29 annual or $49 monthly. The trial is 7 days and takes a card up front.

Taskelo is $8/month flat. The trial is 14 days, starts automatically when you sign up, and doesn't ask for a card. When a trial ends and you do nothing, the difference in philosophy shows: Motion needs a cancellation, Taskelo just quietly drops you to the free workspace, which keeps your todos, notes, goals, and calendar mirror working.

The deeper difference: proposed plans vs. imposed plans

Motion's pitch is that its algorithm schedules your tasks into calendar slots and reshuffles as things change. When it works, it's genuinely clever. The recurring complaint (and the reason many of these searches exist) is what it feels like when it doesn't: your day gets rearranged by something you have to fight.

Taskelo's assistant, Elo, never touches your calendar. It reads it, along with your todos and goals, and proposes: a morning brief with priorities and conflicts, and a timeboxed plan for the day when you ask for one in chat. You push back in plain language and it re-plans. The bet is that a plan you agreed to beats a mathematically optimal one you resent.

What you'd give up

Motion is a fuller work-management product than Taskelo. It does project management, team workload balancing, and meeting scheduling for groups; Taskelo does none of that, on purpose, and it's a web app without Motion's native mobile presence. If your team runs on Motion's project boards, an $8 personal planner is not a replacement. This comparison is for individuals paying for Motion mostly to plan their own day.

Try it

The honest test costs nothing: sign in at taskelo.com with a magic link, connect your calendar, and ask Elo to plan tomorrow. You'll know within three mornings whether propose-and-decide fits you better than auto-schedule. Trial is 14 days with no card, then $8/month; pricing has the details.
